House Bill 809 from the 83rd Texas Legislature, 2013, required that the Texas
Workforce Commission (TWC) and the Texas Education Agency (TEA) work together to
provide employment information for Texas secondary students.
Subchapter A, Chapter 302, Labor Code, Section 302.014, available at
http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/Docs/LA/htm/LA.302.htm#302.014 is the statutory
authority for this project and details how the TWC will provide the TEA with information
regarding disaggregated current and projected employment opportunities in the state.
TEA in turn will provide this data for use in local planning and implementation of career
and technical education and training programs.
In accordance with the provisions of this law, TEA is providing the required information
found by following the link below to the Help Wanted Online webpage on TWC’s
Secondary students and others will find the most up to date information concerning
employment opportunities in any number of occupational areas by county, educational
service center, and local workforce development areas.
