Lesson Plan Template
The Texas CTE Resource Center launched in early August of 2017. Initial CTE lesson plans at the time of launch migrated from legacy CTE grantee websites to the Texas CTE Resource Center, in multiple lesson plan formats, levels of completion and styles. The Texas Education Agency uses the new lesson plan template and this rubric to evaluate quality, TEKS alignment, uniformity, and rigor. Teachers are not required to use this format.
This document includes recommended lesson plan template instructions for Texas CTE courses. The lesson plan template, instructions, and quality rubric are located on the Texas CTE Resource Center. All elements of the lesson plan should be rigorous and aligned with instructional objectives. Use references and resources that address or show evidence of diversity, equity, and/or inclusion to strengthen the lesson. Provide examples of accommodations for Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for special education students.
The purpose of this rubric is to provide a structured, measurable method for reviewing and approving CTE lesson plans, prior to publishing in the Texas CTE Resource Center. Starting in the 2017-2018 school year, all CTE lesson plans published in the Texas CTE Resource Center will be evaluated using this rubric.
