Career One Stop
Career One Stop: your source for career exploration, training & jobs
Created By: U.S. Department of Labor
Audience: 7th-12th-grade students
Big Picture: If you’re looking to explore careers and find one that’s right for you, this is just the place. The site’s got everything to help you in your quest—a vast job-search engine, career guidance and advice, education and training opportunities, resume creation and interview strategies, and much more.
How It Helps You: Knowing what you want to do with your life will help you decide many things about college—like how much of it you actually need, and what degree you should pursue. This site lets you dig into finding the career you want first, giving you a great starting point for further planning.
Must-Use: Become a pro in any field (kinda sorta) by watching the skill and ability videos in the Explore Careers section—they’re short, very informative, and while they’re no substitute for school or training, you’ll definitely learn a thing or two.
Parent-Friendliness: Your parents want to know that you can get a good job when you grow up, so let them browse the careers you’re interested in, where they can see average salaries and growth rates—it’ll help them breathe easier at night.
Protip: Yep, there’s a lot going on with this site. If you’re looking for a good place to start, go to the Resources For tab and click on Young Adult—this will take you to Get My Future, where your tour of the site will be much more focused and meaningful.
